Creating pathways to economic mobility to disrupt poverty in Silicon Valley.
Pop-Up Announced - July & August 2024 @ Ava's Downtown Market - Mtn View
La Colectiva
Last year, ReachSV in partnership with Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation (LAMVCF) secured a grant from the City of Mountain View for a workforce development initiative "Mompreneurs".
The program was designed to empower local underserved immigrant women to become food entrepreneurs and secure a brighter future for their families with the hopes of creating generational wealth through small business ownership.
In the last few months, an initial cohort of 22 women (known as La
Colectiva) have worked towards completing their:
*Managerial Food Safe Handling Certification
*10-week course of English classes
*Leadership development sessions
*Entrepreneurship and small business finance training
*Digital Literacy workshops &
*Community building pillars
The women have also worked to widen their cooking repertoire. All program elements are led by the staff of Reach SV.
The goal is to empower participants to start their own food-based businesses, whether it be catering, pop-ups, or home-based sales. We are excited with every step these amazing women take as they continue to move closer to fulfilling their dreams.
Pop-Up Cocina
In July, La Colectiva members will be offering lunch and dinner based on dishes from different countries in Latin America. Pop-Up Cocina, a collaboration with the women-led Creative Collective World Kitchen, a two month old effort conceived to uplift family-owned food startups, will happen at Ava’s Market on Castro Street in downtown Mountain View.
This pop-up will enable La Colectiva members who are all local Mountain View residents, to try out retail sales for the first time.
Please stop in, shop local and support the women and Ava's Downtown Market at 340 Castro Street.
Pop-Up Cocina Open Daily (except Tuesdays) 11am-2pm; 3pm-7pm
